Instructions
Prepare the Pom Poms (3 required)
1. Cut two cardboard circles 2cm diameter, join together and make a hole in the centre. Hint - we used the cardboard from the Ribtex Bead Packets.
2. Cut Leather Thonging into 50cm lengths. Thread one length through the centre of the cardboard circle and loop around the outside and back through the centre again. Repeat until fully wrapped.
3. With scissors slit the thonging around the outside edge of the circle.
4. Gently pull the cardboard circles apart but before removing completely, tie the centre firmly with strong thread.
5. Remove the cardboard circles and push the thonging together to form a pom pom.
Preparing Centre Feature for Necklace
6. Thread an oval glass bead onto a head pin, leave 1 cm and trim excess wire. Form a loop at the end of the pin. Attach to the end of 2.5cm chain. Repeat to make 4.
7. Attach the other end of all four chains onto one jump ring.
8. Cut the head off a head pin and form a loop to attach to the jump ring with the chain lengths. Push the other end of the head pin through the centre of a pom pom, and then thread on a pearl. Keeping the pearl pressed firmly onto the pom pom, leave approximately 1cm, trim excess pin and form a loop at the end of the head pin.
9. Thread a bi-cone onto a eye pin, leave approximately 1cm, trim excess and form a loop at the end of the pin. Repeat to make 11.
10. Attache one bi-cone eye pin to the centre feature with one link of chain to complete.
11. Prepare 6 pearl eye pins and 6 round glass bead eye pins as instructed in step 9. Hint - small eye pins may be too short for larger beads, if so make a longer eye pin from a head pin - thread a bead onto a head pin, trim the head from the head pin, leaving 1cm at each end, trim excess and form a loop at each end of the pin.
Assembling the Necklace
12. All eye pins are connected with a single link of chain (the chain links can be opened and closed as you would a jump ring).
13. The sequence is as follows; chain link, pearl eye pin, chain link, bi-cone eye pin, chain link, round glass eye pin, chain link and bi-cone eye pin.
14. Finish each side with a round glass bead eye pin followed by a chain link and jump ring.
15. Attach the centre feature to the necklace with a jump ring. Connect the jump ring from the centre feature to the two chain links before the first pearl at the start of each side of the necklace sequence.
16. Attach lobster clasp to one side of the necklace and large ring to the opposite side of the necklace with a jump ring to complete.
Earrings
Onto a head pin thread 1 x 10mm glass pearl, 2 x rope daisy spacers, 1 x pom pom and 1 x 10mm glass pearl. Push this down firmly, leave 1cm of head pin, trim excess and form a loop at the end of the pin and loop into base of a shepherd hook. Repeat for remaining earring.
